The New Year has certainly started off well for our club. At the officers meeting on January 11th, Earlene
announced that we now have
63 members. Since all memberships have to be renewed in January, this
means that the club is quite large for this early in the year. This speaks to the strength of the club and to
the fact that our club is one that everyone enjoys.

Don’t let the large number of members deter you from bringing in
new members or calling an old
member
you haven’t seen in a while. Clubs depend on new blood as a way to insure survivability.
Our current strength comes from members in years past that were willing to keep the club going during
lean times and still make sure the club grew during the good times too.

Several new members have come onboard since our last meeting so the number is actually above 63 at
this time. One person asked if there was a minimum requirement for motorcycle engine size.  Rick wrote
back that our club takes all motorcycle sizes and brands. That’s part of what makes our club great.
We all accept one another no matter what the make or model of bike.
Membership Is Up
At the Next Meeting:
The Safety Officer, Rod Wolfe, will be giving a short talk on motorcycle safety. We will do this each
month as a way to keep safety in the forefront of everyone’s thoughts. Our club experienced several
motorcycle-related injuries last year. Let’s try and make 2006 as safe as possible.
Club Poker Run 2006
The club’s annual poker run is already being discussed. Kay Kleiber will be planning the route with
Linda Aker taking on the role of committee chairperson once again. See Linda if you would like to help
plan this event. The poker run will remain a “club member run and not be open to the general
public. Our new role as co-sponsor of the Loma Linda Toy Run gives us a public event to work on.
Members List
Upgrades to the Chaparral Riders website are in the works. Some members have expressed an interest in
having member names and contact info available on the website. In order to insure privacy, a
password-protected Adobe Acrobat file will be placed on the website and members who want their contact
information shared in this format will be able to do so. More information as the launch date of that change
comes about.
The Board is in the process of ordering shirts, hats, and maybe pins for the club. We are reviewing the
pricing of several vendors and will have a new supplies of these items ready for purchase by club
members soon.
