Hollister: My First Ride

From the time that I can remember my dad has talked about the Harley that he was going to buy.  Last
year it finally happened; my parent’s bought one.  My family has been experiencing the excitement of
going on rides with Chaparral while I have been at school.  This June I came home for the summer, I had
just finished my first year at University California Davis.  I wanted a break from the “funâ€ of
studying; wanting to do something that would relive me of all the college life that I had been experiencing
for the last year.  So I asked my dad when I was going to be able to go on a ride with him.  That would
be something that would be totally different than college life.
I guess I should introduce myself.  My name is Shannon Mc Daniel, and I am 19 years old, and my
parents David and Dede are members of the club.  Ok back to what I was saying, my dad had asked me
to join him on the Hollister ride.  I was so excited that I prepared all week.  We left early in the morning
of July fourth.  The nine hour ride was wonderful, not only were the people nice, making sure that I was
having fun but the scenery was beautiful (not having to take the freeway was so different). The time that I
was able to spend with my dad was fun and seeing the blocks of lined up bikes was something that I had
never seen before, it was an awesome experience.  I appreciate the welcoming of the members of
Chaparral for letting me join in on the ride.  I had a wonderful time and hope that I can join you on the
ride next year.

8th Annual Route 66 Rendezvous Charity Run

For the ones that miss this Poker run on July 12th , it was Hot! Hot! Hot! Everyone meet up at Quaid
Harley/Davidson, which were Pete, Linda, Connie, Mike, Dede and Rick. Connie also had some friends
ride with us, which is Mike (which just got a new Harley) and Renee. When we left Quaid
Harley/Davidson it was already in the 80’s. Our next stop was Chaparral Motorsports, were we
punch our card, now we have 3 cards drawn. Next we ran down the old Route 66 thru San Bernardino
next to I 215, to the Screaming Chicken, and received our last two punches. We had gone so far about
30 miles since we left Quaid, and it’s getting Hot, we refreshed ourselves and head to the final
destination, Green Mountain Ranch in Lytle Creek.  We all check our hands and we didn’t have very
good ones, Mike had the best hand, with a pair of 7’s in our group. They had hamburgers and hot
dogs and a lot of shade, it wasn’t too bad under the shade. Connie and Renee enter there bikes in the
Bike Show contest, but a Honda Shadow won I believe. Over all it was fun it could’ve had been
longer of a ride only 45 miles. A.B.A.T.E. put on a well organized event, every thing ran real smooth.
