Noted that the discount card is difficult to use in January. Our re-registration is in January. Should we move it to December? Because our discount card is difficult to use in January should we move it to December?
One solution is to have the clerk contact manager at time of purchase.
Another is to pay it up front and when all is sorted, take your receipt in and get your discount then.
Another is to have it honored until end of January - which would be great.
Earlene to discuss with the manager, Roger, and get back with us.
High Mileage Reward
Will be awarded in February with mileage from the applications compared to last years.
Christmas Party
The Christmas Party went well. Thanks to all that helped. This years party will probably be in the same location.
Loma Linda Toy Run
We had about 15 members
Toys and 2 rocking chairs
Got to see the Gingerbread house and toys
*** Most toys were for toddlers. Very low on infants and teenagers.
It was discussed if we should have a total of four rides a year. One toy run consisting of just toys, another of stuffed animals, the third of toys again and finally stuffed animals for the fourth run so that the kids would get the enjoyment of watching us ride in on our bikes.
It was voted against for a couple of reasons. One is due to too much risk of the flu. Another is that at the time we arrive they may be administering meds and there is not enough personnel left to come down and receive the toys. Therefore, it was settled that we will deliver twice a year.
Teddy Bear drop off will be in June and the other in December. We need to keep in mind that it was noted that this year most toys were for toddlers and very low for infants and teenagers.
Web Site selection
It was decided that we will keep both MeetUp.com and Chaparral Riders for now until Ron has a chance to find an ISP to house. The cost for MeetUp is $75 for first six months and $35 for next six months. The cost for Chaparral Riders is $160 a year . Ron will discuss with Stephen Herrick about the discount costs and the way Meetup manages it.

October Chaparral Block Buster
Will need volunteer to organize and others to attend and put it on.

Destinations and rides will be gathered from the applications.
We plan on having 2 overnight runs this year (non-regular)

Randy Hernandez brought up decorating a trailer for Christmas next year. Anyone willing to lend their trailer? Also, we’ll need volunteers for decorating. And, what about a generator should we require for animation?
Steve to contact Ron Woodington of FrictionZone to put us on the list of motorcycle clubs?
Pete and Linda to oversee ride for the Yuma Prison Ride? They will buy a couple of bicycles using the Loma Linda Fund to donate for raffle/auction?
At the Officers Meeting it was suggested to consider one of the monthly ride as a picnic and/or to promote riding skills.
Stinky
What a way
to start off 2010. It was a great ride, perfect weather, and ohhh, guess
what, Uncle Stephen really does like me. His wife admits that Stephen
talks in his sleep about me!!! J Stephen was voted in as
our Safety Officer. It seems that Stephens ploy this time was to not come
to his first Officers meeting so that he could be a nominee to have me ride
with him again. Not sure if the internet is a good place to get
information from though because he swears that he went online and all the IHOPS
in the area had an 8:00 open time listed. The meeting was at 6:30 AM, it
is a breakfast place so why wouldn’t it be open early!!!!!!!!!!!! But
that’s OK though. He plays some good music, which on his bike is all you
can hear so it’s all good. See you folks in February..

Captain Report January, 2009
This was a unique ride in a way. We had invited and combined rides with the WITW (Women In The Wind) LOCAL (Ladies of Chrome and Leather) open ride. We have several Chaparral Riders that are also LOCAL members and this particular date coincided with theirs.
It was a beautiful day for a ride. Janet and Bonn’e worked out the route, mostly Janet but it was a very nice one. We broke up into 3 groups as we had over 30 bikes. Myself, Randy Hernandez, and Cathie Siglow led the 3 groups. Took a leisurely ride out San Timateo Canyon road to Beaumont then headed south on 79/Sanderson to Hemet. We skirted Hemet by jogging over to Warren Road to avoid all the lights and stop signs and continued south then jogged again over to Winchester, still going south. Not a lot of twisties in this section but open road, not a lot of traffic, and no freeway. Once we got down to Temecula we had a gas stop then headed down Pala Road, presently Pechanga. Nice stretch. Once we got to 76 we went east to catch on to Valley Center south. At that point we went by Lake Wohlford and rode San Pasqual Rd, which is also SR-78. We finished and had lunch at a little place called the Ramona Inn. This is a little restaurant that the Food Connection network reviewed during their Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives visits. The food was pretty good. We had brought in about 40 people to an already pretty busy place so the service was sporadic but all in all it was a good setting.
It was a perfect day for a ride. Heading home, some folks decided to visit Julian, some just headed straight back and some took scenic back. Thanks to Janet for arranging this and thanks to all the Road Captains and Tail Gunners that helped manage the groups to a safe and enjoyable ride.

Excessive
Tire Wear
A list of causes
By: James R. Davis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Excessive tire wear, and/or cupping, is a problem that most
motorcyclists experience over time. Too often this is simply the result of
failing to maintain proper tire pressure. However, this is far
from a complete answer.
Cupping is a phenomena that is absolutely normal! Excessive
cupping or excessive wear on one side of the tire as compared to the
other is not.
There are at least seven causes of cupping and/or uneven wear
in the front tire other than tire air pressure:
Most roads are banked away from the center. Thus, if you ride
vertical, the side of your tire closest to the center of the road wears
more.
Your tires 'scuff' when you force a speed change with them.
The rear tire scuffs when you accelerate and when you brake (and every
time you ride in a direction other than straight ahead.) Thus,
it tends to have even 'cupping' as compared to the front tire (which
scuffs when you brake but not when you accelerate.)
While alignment is not usually a problem with motorcycles - it
can be.
Carrying an unevenly divided load (all your tools, jumper
cable, etc.) in one saddlebag can result in your riding the bike other than
vertical most of the time.
Setting your TRAC (anti-dive) unequally can easily cause
uneven tire wear.
If one of your front shocks is defective you will experience
uneven tire wear.
Excessive use of the front brake will result in excessive
cupping.
